The Lily-pond Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAA BBB AAA CCC DDD EEE

On this little pool where the sunbeams lieA
This tawny gold ring where the shadows dieA
God doth enamel the blue of His skyA
-
Through the scented dark when the night wind sighsB
He mirrors His stars where the ripples riseB
Till they glitter like prisoned firefliesB
-
'Tis here that the beryl green leaves uncurlA
And here the lilies uplift and unfurlA
Their golden lined goblets of carven pearlA
-
When the grey of the eastern sky turns pinkC
Through the silver sedge at the pond's low brinkC
The little lone field mouse creeps down to drinkC
-
And creatures to whom only God is kindD
The loveless small things the slow and the blindD
Soft steal through the rushes and comfort findD
-
Oh restless the river restless the seaE
Where the great ships go and the dead men beE
The lily pond giveth but peace to meE
