The Crow Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABA CAC ADAD EAEA FGHG IJIJAKAK ADAD

Hail little herald Art thou then returningA
From summer lands this wild and wind torn dayB
Hast brought the word for which our hearts are yearningA
That spring is on the wayB
Hark Now there comes a clear insistent callingA
-
From hill tops crested with untarnished snowC
The trumpet notes are drifting floating fallingA
Whene'er the breezes blowC
-
Winter is over and the spring is comingA
Glad is thy message little page in blackD
Winter is over and the spring is comingA
The spring is coming backD
-
Tell me prophet bird of sombre featherE
Who taught thee all the mysteries of springA
Didst note each passing mood of wind and weatherE
While flying to the North on buoyant wingA
-
Or didst thou rest upon the bare brown branchesF
And hear the sap go singing through the treesG
Didst watch with keen far seeing downward glancesH
The leaves unlock their cells with fairy keysG
-
What though thy voice hath not a trace of sweetnessI
It thrills one through and throughJ
With promises of Joy in all completenessI
What time the skies are blueJ
When robins from the apple trees are flingingA
Out on the air their silver shower of songK
In lilac days when children run a singingA
No single thought shall do thy memory wrongK
-
Winter is over and the spring is comingA
Sweet are thy tidings little page in blackD
Winter is over and the spring is comingA
The spring is coming backD
