The Call Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JAKA LMKM NBLB

Across the dusty foot worn streetA
Unblessed of flower or treeB
Faint and far off there ever soundsC
The calling of the seaB
-
From out the quiet of the hillsD
Where purple shadows lieE
The pine trees murmur Come and restF
And let the world go byE
-
The west wind whispers all night longG
Oh journey forth afarH
To the green and pleasant placesI
Where little rivers areH
-
And the soft and silken rustlingJ
Of bending yellow wheatA
Says See the harvest moon that dimsK
The arc lights of the streetA
-
Though the city holds thee captiveL
By trick and wile and lureM
Out yonder lies the lovelinessK
Of things that shall endureM
-
The river road is wide and fairN
The prairie path is freeB
And still the old earth waits to giveL
Her strength and joy to theeB
