Saints Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDB EFGFHF GIJIGI KGGGLG IMNMOMThe Saints of Thy great Church Christ | A |
How vast their numbers be | B |
On holy page and ancient scroll | C |
Their blessed names we see | B |
And from the painted window panes | D |
They smile eternally | B |
- | |
Rope girdled monk and pallid maid | E |
And men who for Thy cross | F |
Fought with the Saracen of old | G |
Counting their lives no loss | F |
Martyrs who rose through golden flames | H |
Free of the body's dross | F |
- | |
Yet there be Saints uncanonised | G |
Unrecognised unknown | I |
Here on the common roads of earth | J |
Oft times they walk alone | I |
Saints whom no soul hath ever praised | G |
Saints whom no Church doth own | I |
- | |
Men who against their souls' grim foes | K |
Wage an unyielding fight | G |
Men of new creeds and men of old | G |
Men of dark hue and white | G |
Each pressing hard towards some far gleam | L |
Of Thy celestial light | G |
- | |
Dwellers in places waste and lone | I |
Toilers upon the seas | M |
Mayhap they seldom pray high heaven | N |
Softly on bended knees | M |
Yet in the roll call of Thy Saints | O |
Dear Christ remember these | M |
