November Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAA BBB CCC DDD EEE FFF AAA

How like a hooded friar bent and greyA
Whose pensive lips speak only when they prayA
Doth sad November pass upon his wayA
-
Through forest aisles while the wind chanteth lowB
In God's cathedral where the great trees growB
Now all day long he paceth to and froB
-
When shadows gather and the night mists riseC
Up to the hills he lifts his sombre eyesC
To where the last red rose of sunset liesC
-
A little smile he weareth wise and coldD
The smile of one to whom all things are oldD
And life is weary as a tale twice toldD
-
Come see he seems to say where joy has fledE
The leaves that burned but yesterday so redE
Have turned to ashes and the flowers are deadE
-
The summer's green and gold hath taken flightF
October days have gone Now bleached and whiteF
Winter doth come with many a lonely nightF
-
And though the people will not heed or stayA
But pass with careless laughter on their wayA
Even I with rain of tears will wait and prayA
