Nocturne Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH FIFI

Infold us with thy peace dear moon lit nightA
And let thy silver silence wrap us roundB
Till we forget the city's dazzling lightA
The city's ceaseless soundB
-
Here where the sand lies white upon the shoreC
And little velvet fingered breezes blowD
Dear sea thy world old wonder song once moreC
Sing to us e'er we goD
-
Give us thy garnered sweets short summer hourE
Perfume of rose and balm of sun steeped pineF
Scent from the lily's cup and horned flowerE
Where bees have drained the wineF
-
Come small musicians in the rough sea grassG
Pipe us the serenade we love the bestH
And winds of midnight chant for us a massG
Our hearts would be at restH
-
God of all beauty though the world is thineF
Our faith grows often faint oft hope is spentI
Show us Thyself in all things fair and fineF
Teach us the stars' contentI
