Lilacs Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFDGDG FHFHIGIG

In lonely gardens deserted unseenA
Oh lovely lilacs of purple and whiteB
You are dipping down through a mist of greenA
For the morning sun's delightB
And the velvet bee all belted with blackC
Drinks deep of the wine which your flagons holdD
Clings close to your plumes while he fills his packC
With a load of burnished goldD
-
You hide the fences with blossoms of snowE
And sweeten the shade of castle towersF
Over low grey gables you brightly blowE
Like amethysts turned to flowersF
The tramp on the highway ragged and boldD
Wears you close to his heart with jaunty airG
You rest in my lady's girdle of goldD
And are held against her hairG
-
In God's own acre your tender flowersF
Bend down to the grasses and seem to sighH
For those who count time no more by hoursF
Whose summers have all passed byH
But at eventide the south wind will singI
Like a gentle priest who chanteth a prayerG
And thy purple censers he'll set a swingI
To perfume the twilight airG
