Heaven Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GAGA HIHI JEJE

Not with the haloed saints would Heaven beA
For such as IB
Who have not reached to their serenityA
So sweet and highB
-
Not with the martyrs washed by holy flameC
Could I find placeD
For they are victors who through glory cameC
To see God's faceD
-
Not with the perfect souls that enter thereE
Could mine abideF
For clouded eyes from eyes all cloudless fairE
'Twere best to hideF
-
And not for me the wondrous streets of goldG
Or crystal seaA
I only know the brown earth worn and oldG
Where sinners beA
-
Unless I found those who to me belongH
My dear and ownI
I in the vastness of that shining throngH
Would be aloneI
-
God guide us to some sun blessed little starJ
We ask not whereE
Nor whether it be near or it be farJ
So Love is thereE
