At The Play Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AA BBCC DDEE FFGH IJKK LLMM AA

Just above the boxes and where the high lights fallA
Looketh down a carven face from out the gilded wallA
-
Van Dyke beard and broidered ruff silently confessB
That he lived and loved perchance in days of Good Queen BessB
Laces fine and linen sheer curled and perfumed hairC
Well became those gentlemen of gay insouciant airC
-
See He gazeth evermore at the stage belowD
Noteth well the players as they quickly come and goD
Queens and kings and maidens fair motley fools and friarsE
Lords and ladies stately dames mounted knights and squiresE
-
Well he knoweth all of them all the grave and gayF
These are they he dreamt of in the far and far awayF
Saints and sinners see they come down the bygone yearsG
And the world still shares with them its laughter and its tearsH
-
Still we haunt the greenwood for love of RosalindI
Still we hear the Jester's bells ajingle on the windJ
Still the frenzied Moor we fear Ah and even yetK
Breathless wait before the tomb of all the CapuletK
-
Though the slow years pass away yet on land and seaL
Follow we the Danish Prince in sad soliloquyL
And I fancy sometimes when the round moon saileth highM
Yet in Venice meet the Jew as he goeth byM
-
Just above the boxes and where the high lights fallA
Looketh down a carven face from out the gilded wallA
