At Midnight Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB CDCD EFCF GHCH IJCJ KBLB

Turn Thou the key upon our thoughts dear LordA
And let us sleepB
Give us our portion of forgetfulnessC
Silent and deepB
-
Lay Thou Thy quiet hand upon our eyesC
To close their sightD
Shut out the shining of the moon and starsC
And candle lightD
-
Keep back the phantoms and the visions sadE
The shades of greyF
The fancies that so haunt the little hoursC
Before the dayF
-
Quiet the time worn questions that are allG
Unanswered yetH
Take from the spent and troubled souls of usC
Their vain regretH
-
And lead us far into Thy silent landI
That we may goJ
Like children out across the field o' dreamsC
Where poppies blowJ
-
So all Thy saints and all Thy sinners tooK
Wilt Thou not keepB
Since not alone unto Thy well belovedL
Thou givest sleepB
