To A. H. J Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGFG HIHI JCKC

Past life past tears far past the graveA
The tryst is set for meB
Since for our all your all you gaveA
On the slopes of PicardyC
-
On Angus in the autumn nightsD
The ice green light shall lieE
Beyond the trees the Northern LightsD
Slant on the belts of skyE
-
But miles on miles from Scottish soilF
You sleep past war and scaithG
Your country's freedman loosed from toilF
In honour and in faithG
-
For Angus held you in her spellH
Her Grampians faint and blueI
Her ways the speech you knew so wellH
Were half the world to youI
-
Yet rest my son our souls are thoseJ
Nor time nor death can partC
And lie you proudly folded closeK
To France's deathless heartC
