The Brig Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD BEBF EGEG AHAH IJIJ KLKM KDKD

I whiles gang to the brig sideA
That's past the briar treeB
Alang the road when the licht is wideA
Owre Angus an' the seaB
-
In by the dyke yon briar growsC
Wi' leaf an' thorn it's laneD
Whaur the spunk o' flame o' the briar roseC
Burns saft agin the staneD
-
An' whiles a step treids on by meB
I mauna hear its fa'E
And atween the brig an' the briar treeB
Ther gangs na' ane but twaF
-
Oot owre yon sea through dule an' strifeE
Ye tak' yer road nae mairG
For ye've crossed the brig to the fields o' lifeE
An' ye walk for iver thereG
-
I traivel on to the brig sideA
Whaur ilka road maun ceaseH
My weary war may be lang to bideA
An' you hae won to peaceH
-
There's ne'er a nicht but turns to dayI
Nor a load that's niver castJ
An' there's nae wind cries on the winter braeI
But it spends itsel' at lastJ
-
O you that niver failed me yetK
Gin aince my step ye hearL
Come to yon brig atween us setK
An' bide till I win nearM
-
O weel aye weel ye'll ken my treidK
Ye'll seek nae word nor signD
An' I'll no can fail at the Brig o' DreidK
For yer hand will be in mineD
