Presage Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFG HIDI JKJK LMLN

The year declines and yet there isA
A clearness as of hinted springB
And chilly like a virgin's kissC
The cold light touches everythingB
-
The world seems dazed with purityD
There hangs this spell bound afternoonE
Beyond the naked cherry treeD
The new wrought sickle of the moonE
-
What is this thraldom pale and stillF
That holds so passionless a swayG
Lies death in this ethereal chillF
New life or prelude of decayG
-
In the frail rapture of the skyH
There bodes transfigured far aloofI
The veil that hides eternityD
With life for warp and death for woofI
-
We see the presage not with eyesJ
But dimly with the shrinking soulK
Scarce guessing in this fateful guiseJ
The glory that enwraps the wholeK
-
The light no flesh may apprehendL
Lent but to spirit eyes to giveM
Sign of that splendour of the endL
That none may look upon and liveN
