Armed Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGG IJIJ GKGK LGLG

Give me to night to hide me in the shadeA
That neither moon nor starB
May see the secret place where I am laidA
Nor watch me from afarB
-
Let not the dark its prying ghosts employC
To peer on my retreatD
And see the fragments of my broken toyC
Lie scattered at my feetD
-
I fashioned it that idol of my ownE
Of metal strange and brightF
I made my toy a god I raised a throneE
To honour my delightF
-
This haunted byway of the grove was litG
With lamps my hand had trimmedH
Before the altar in the midst of itG
I kept their flame undimmedG
-
My steps turned ever to the hidden shrineI
Aware or unawareJ
My soul dwelt only in that spot divineI
And now a wreck lies thereJ
-
Give me to night to weep when dawn is spreadG
Beyond the heavy treesK
And in the east the day is heraldedG
By cloud wrought companiesK
-
I shall have gathered up my heart's desireL
Broken destroyed adoredG
And from its splinters in a deathless fireL
I shall have forged a swordG
