The Garden Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHHH IJ

We owned a garden on a hillA
We planted rose and daffodilA
Flowers that English poets singB
And hoped for glory in the SpringB
-
We planted yellow hollyhocksC
And humble sweetly smelling stocksC
And columbine for carnivalD
And dreamt of Summer's festivalD
-
And Autumn not to be outdoneE
As heiress of the summer sunE
Should doubly wreathe her tawny headF
With poppies and with creepers redF
-
We waited then for all to growG
We planted wallflowers in a rowG
And lavendar and borage blueH
Alas we waited I and youH
But love was all that ever grewH
-
Long BarnI
SummerJ
