Mcmxiii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EAFA GHIH JKLK MNON

So prodigal was I of youthA
Forgetting I was youngB
I worshipped dead men for their strengthC
Forgetting I was strongD
-
I cherished old jejune adviceE
I thought I groped for truthA
Those dead old languages I learnedF
When I was prodigal of youthA
-
Then in the sunlight stood a boyG
Outstretching either handH
Palm upwards cup like and betweenI
The fingers trickled sandH
-
Oh why so grave he cried to meJ
Laugh stern lips laugh at lastK
Let wisdom come when wisdom mayL
The sand is running fastK
-
I followed him into the sunM
And laughed as he desiredN
And every day upon the grassO
We play till we are tiredN
