Constantinople - Retour En Songe Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCB DEFFE GHIIIJ KLMMML NOPPPQ RSTTTS

After a dream dim voyageA
We came with sails all setB
Towards the city of the seaC
And it was wonderful to meC
To find her reigning yetB
-
Oh beauty that my eyes and heartD
Had feasted on beforeE
The evening mosques were brushed with goldF
The water lapped a lazy foldF
Upon that lovely shoreE
-
The gardens of her terraced hillsG
Rose up above the portH
And little houses half concealedI
The presence of a light revealedI
And here my journey's end was sealedI
And I reached the home I soughtJ
-
Those windows I had opened wideK
To welcome in the sunL
Those stairs that only happy feetM
Had measured with their running beatM
That well remembered winding streetM
Twelve months that were as oneL
-
Should others with their sordid caresN
And troubles enter hereO
Love hung about the rooms like smokeP
And peace descended as a cloakP
Should I allow the vulgar folkP
To desecrate that yearQ
-
I laid the fuse with steady handR
We sailed into the nightS
From deck I watched the flames ariseT
Remorseless as my tearless eyesT
That with the waves and reddened skiesT
Flung back the angry lightS
