The Sower Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ

Sitting in a porchway coolA
Fades the ruddy sunlight fastB
Twilight hastens on to ruleA
Working hours are wellnigh pastB
-
Shadows shoot across the landsC
But one sower lingers stillD
Old in rags he patient standsC
Looking on I feel a thrillD
-
Black and high his silhouetteE
Dominates the furrows deepF
Now to sow the task is setE
Soon shall come a time to reapF
-
Marches he along the plainG
To and fro and scatters wideH
From his hands the precious grainG
Moody I to see him strideH
-
Darkness deepens Gone the lightI
Now his gestures to mine eyesJ
Are august and strange his heightI
Seems to touch the starry skiesJ
