The Quiet Rural Church Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CBCD EFEF

It was a humble church with arches lowA
The church we entered thereB
Where many a weary soul since long agoA
Had past with plaint or prayerB
-
Mournful and still it was at day's declineC
The day we entered thereB
As in a loveless heart at the lone shrineC
The fires extinguished wereD
-
Scarcely was heard to float some gentlest soundE
Scarcely some low breathed wordF
As in a forest fallen asleep is foundE
Just one belated birdF
