Quels sont ces bruits sourdsA
-
XXIV JulyB
-
-
Hark to that solemn soundC
It steals towards the strandD
Whose is that voice profoundC
Which mourns the swallowed landD
With moansA
Or groansA
New threats of ruin close at handD
It is Triton the storm to scornE
Who doth wind his sonorous hornE
-
How thick the rain to nightF
And all along the coastG
The sky shows naught of lightF
Is it a storm my hostG
Too soonH
The boonH
Of pleasant weather will be lostI
Yes 'tis Triton etcJ
-
Are seamen on that speckK
Afar in deepening darkL
Is that a splitting deckK
Of some ill fated barkL
Fend harmM
Send calmN
O Venus show thy starry sparkL
Though 'tis Triton etcJ
-
The thousand tooth d galeO
Adventurers too boldP
Rips up your toughest sailO
And tears your anchor holdP
You forgeQ
Through surgeR
To be in rending breakers rolledP
While old Triton etcJ
-
Do sailors stare this wayS
Cramped on the Needle's sheafT
To hail the sudden rayS
Which promises reliefT
Then brightF
Shine lightF
Of hope upon the beacon reefT
Though 'tis Triton etcJ
