LE ROI S'AMUSE Act IIA

-
My child oh only blessing Heaven allows meB
Others have parents brothers kinsmen friendsC
A wife a husband vassals followersD
Ancestors and allies or many childrenE
I have but thee thee only Some are richF
Thou art my treasure thou art all my richesG
And some believe in angels I believeH
In nothing but thy soul Others have youthI
And woman's love and pride and grace and healthJ
Others are beautiful thou art my beautyB
Thou art my home my country and my kinK
My wife my mother sister friend my childL
My bliss my wealth my worship and my lawM
My Universe Oh by all other thingsN
My soul is tortured If I should ever lose theeB
Horrible thought I cannot utter itO
Smile for thy smile is like thy mother's smilingP
She too was fair you have a trick like herQ
Of passing oft your hand athwart your browR
As though to clear it Innocence still lovesS
A brow unclouded and an azure eyeT
To me thou seem'st clothed in a holy haloU
My soul beholds thy soul through thy fair bodyB
E'en when my eyes are shut I see thee stillV
Thou art my daylight and sometimes I wishW
That Heaven had made me blind that thou might'st beB
The sun that lighted up the world for meB
