Genius Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDD ECECFGFGEHI HJKLKLL

Woe unto him the child of this sad earthA
Who in a troubled world unjust and blindB
Bears Genius treasure of celestial birthA
Within his solitary soul enshrinedB
Woe unto him for Envy's pangs impureC
Like the undying vultures' will be drivenD
Into his noble heart that must endureC
Pangs for each triumph and still unforgivenD
Suffer Prometheus' doom who ravished fire from HeavenD
-
Still though his destiny on earth may beE
Grief and injustice who would not endureC
With joyful calm each proffered agonyE
Could he the prize of Genius thus ensureC
What mortal feeling kindled in his soulF
That clear celestial flame so pure and highG
O'er which nor time nor death can have controlF
Would in inglorious pleasures basely flyG
From sufferings whose reward is ImmortalityE
No though the clamors of the envious crowdH
Pursue the son of Genius he will riseI
-
From the dull clod borne by an effort proudH
Beyond the reach of vulgar enmitiesJ
'Tis thus the eagle with his pinions spreadK
Reposing o'er the tempest from that heightL
Sees the clouds reel and roll above our headK
While he rejoicing in his tranquil flightL
More upward soars sublime in heaven's eternal lightL
