Beloved Name Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAB CDCED FGFFG HIHHI GJGGJ KLKKM

The lily's perfume pure fame's crown of lightA
The latest murmur of departing dayB
Fond friendship's plaint that melts at piteous sightA
The mystic farewell of each hour at flightA
The kiss which beauty grants with coy delayB
-
The sevenfold scarf that parting storms bestowC
As trophy to the proud triumphant sunD
The thrilling accent of a voice we knowC
The love enthralled maiden's secret vowE
An infant's dream ere life's first sands be runD
-
The chant of distant choirs the morning's sighF
Which erst inspired the fabled Memnon's frameG
The melodies that hummed so trembling dieF
The sweetest gems that 'mid thought's treasures lieF
Have naught of sweetness that can match HER NAMEG
-
Low be its utterance like a prayer divineH
Yet in each warbled song be heard the soundI
Be it the light in darksome fanes to shineH
The sacred word which at some hidden shrineH
The selfsame voice forever makes resoundI
-
O friends ere yet in living strains of flameG
My muse bewildered in her circlings wideJ
With names the vaunting lips of pride proclaimG
Shall dare to blend the one the purer nameG
Which love a treasure in my breast doth hideJ
-
Must the wild lay my faithful harp can singK
Be like the hymns which mortals kneeling hearL
To solemn harmonies attuned the stringK
As music show'ring from his viewless wingK
On heavenly airs some angel hovered nearM
