-
Brown ivy old green herbage newA
Soft seaweed stealing up the shingleC
An ancient chapel where a crewA
Ere sailing in the prayer commingleC
A far off forest's darkling frownA
Which makes the prudent start and trembleC
Whilst rotten nuts are rattling downA
And clouds in demon hordes assembleC
-
Land birds which twit the mews that screamD
Round walls where lolls the languid lizardE
Brine bubbling brooks where fishes streamD
Past caves fit for an ocean wizardE
Alow aloft no lull all lifeB
But far aside its whirls are keepingF
As wishfully to let its strifeB
Spare still the mother vainly weepingF
O'er baby lost not long a sleepingF
