I do not wish for their love,
nor plead for their care.
I do not pray for a place
in a family unaware.
I do not ask for remembrance
of the good I have done,
nor for their eyes to awaken
to the light of my sun.
But I pray for strength unending,
for courage to remain,
that God will lift me gently
through every hurt and pain.
Their words may fall like shadows,
their actions cut me deep,
yet I pray for holy patience,
a soul that He will keep.
Though unseen, though unloved,
though my kindness fades unheard,
I pray for grace to carry
the weight of every word.
But I pray for strength unending,
for courage to remain,
that God will lift me gently
through every hurt and pain.
Let me walk through silent valleys,
let me stand when I am weak,
for in His mercy shining
is the solace that I seek.
And though the world may blind me,
though hearts may turn away,
I pray for God’s own courage
to endure another day.
