Nursery Rhyme. Lxxxix. Proverbs Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BBCCDDEEFFGGHHII

One version of the following song which I believe to be the genuine one is written on the last leaf of MS Harl between the lines of a fragment of an old charter originally used for binding the book in a hand of the end of the seventeenth century but unfortunately it is scarcely adapted for the ears polite of modern daysA
-
A man of words and not of deedsB
Is like a garden full of weedsB
And when the weeds begin to growC
It's like a garden full of snowC
And when the snow begins to fallD
It's like a bird upon the wallD
And when the bird away does flyE
It's like an eagle in the skyE
And when the sky begins to roarF
It's like a lion at the doorF
And when the door begins to crackG
It's like a stick across your backG
And when your back begins to smartH
It's like a penknife in your heartH
And when your heart begins to bleedI
You're dead and dead and dead indeedI
