Little Tom DoggetA
What dost thou meanB
To kill thy poor CollyC
Now she's so leanB
Sing oh poor CollyC
Colly my cowD
For Colly will give meC
No more milk nowD
-
I had better have kept herE
'Till fatter she had beenF
For now I confessG
She's a little too leanB
Sing oh poor Colly cC
-
First in comes the tannerE
With his sword by his sideA
And he bids me five shillingsH
For my poor cow's hideA
Sing oh poor Colly cC
-
Then in comes the tallow chandlerE
Whose brains were but shallowI
And he bids me two and sixpenceH
For my cow's tallowI
Sing oh poor Colly cC
-
Then in comes the huntsmanJ
So early in the mornK
He bids me a pennyC
For my cow's hornK
Sing oh poor Colly cC
-
Then in comes the tripe womanJ
So fine and so neatA
She bids me three half penceH
For my cow's feetA
Sing oh poor Colly cC
-
Then in comes the butcherE
That nimble tongu'd youthL
Who said she was carrionJ
But he spoke not the truthL
Sing oh poor Colly cC
-
The skin of my cowlyI
Was softer than silkM
And three times a dayA
My poor cow would give milkM
Sing oh poor Colly cC
-
She every yearN
A fine calf did me bringO
Which fetcht me a poundA
For it came in the springO
Sing oh poor Colly cC
-
But now I have kill'd herE
I can't her recallI
I will sell my poor CollyC
Hide horns and allI
Sing oh poor Colly cC
-
The butcher shall have herE
Though he gives but a poundA
And he knows in his heartA
That my Colly was soundA
Sing oh poor Colly cC
-
And when he has bought herE
Let him sell all togetherE
The flesh for to eatA
And the hide for leatherE
Sing oh poor Colly cC
