France. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAB CDCCD ECEEC FGFFG CHCCH

Not dead oh no she cannot dieA
Only a swoon from loss of bloodB
Levite England passes her byA
Help Samaritan None is nighA
Who shall stanch me this sanguine floodB
-
Range the brown hair it blinds her eyneC
Dash cold water over her faceD
Drowned in her blood she makes no signC
Give her a draught of generous wineC
None heed none hear to do this graceD
-
Head of the human column thusE
Ever in swoon wilt thou remainC
Thought Freedom Truth quenched ominousE
Whence then shall Hope arise for usE
Plunged in the darkness all againC
-
No she stirs There's a fire in her glanceF
Ware oh ware of that broken swordG
What dare ye for an hour's mischanceF
Gather around her jeering FranceF
Attila's own exultant hordeG
-
Lo she stands up stands up e'en nowC
Strong once more for the battle frayH
Gleams bright the star that from her browC
Lightens the world Bow nations bowC
Let her again lead on the wayH
