The Halls Of Valhalla Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGG HGIJ KLGG MMKK K

Sodden fields beneath their feetA
Trodden grass where these beggars sleepB
Closed are the dreams of unmarked gravesC
Where children played their masters gamesD
-
Wooden sticks sound affects hiding amongst the treesE
Falling down deafening sound bodies all aroundF
Did each one die for his own dugout plotG
Is that his reward is that all he s gotG
-
Where are the gifts bequeathed by deathH
In posthumous salutations or stars on epauletteG
From machine gun fodder on the beaches of TobrukI
To the mud lice eaten bodies on the men of Kokoda trackJ
-
We are naught but conspicuous vagrantsK
Standing in the vestibule of His creationsL
While changing innocence for a fools goldG
You allowed a mother alone to grow oldG
-
They re now at Rest in the halls of ValhallaM
Allowing dreams awaken the lights of AuroraM
Reckless angers of changing momentsK
Let no more die by the order of GovernmentsK
