Buttercup Daisies Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDEF GHGH IEBJ KLKL MMNNOPPQQ

To feel despondent in a chasm of obedienceA
One s thoughts to focus and pain to ownB
Escaping tears of a child s complianceA
Becalmed in deep waters of a place unknownB
-
Rain soaked trees line cobblestone streetsC
As hibernating birds abandon their nestsD
With golden bronzed leaves to carpet my feetE
Tired closed eyes dream of an Autumn RestF
-
With old scribbled words on a gate leg tableG
As memories remain in a frozen stateH
The tapping sound of a death watch beetleG
In tear filled voices a young girls fateH
-
Where have all the colours goneI
And the flowers of meadow sweetE
This cold it counts my every boneB
While ageing dreams have gone to sleepJ
-
With cold winds blowing through open doorsK
And thumbs count beads of a rosary in prayerL
Casting dark shadows on parquetry floorsK
As buttercup daisies line her casket of careL
-
Grieving tears that never dryM
Enquiring minds question whyM
Evidence of pain etched upon her faceN
Seeks the need of her child s embraceN
SoO
Gather up her memories and gifts she s left behindP
Fold away her daisy chains pearl beads and all you findP
For broken hearts that never mendQ
Her final blessing has come to endQ
