Sonnet, Written On My Birth Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABABABCDCDDD| Again has Time his annual circle run | A |
| And April ushers in my natal day | B |
| Since first my infant eyes beheld the sun | A |
| How many a year has swiftly roll'd away | B |
| Full half my thread of life the Fates have spun | A |
| What various colours does the web display | B |
| Some dark some brighter ere the work be done | A |
| The sadder hues will overshade the gay | B |
| Yet not to Melancholy will I yield | C |
| Against Despondency and Discontent | D |
| Still Fortitude and Hope shall keep the field | C |
| Swerving from thee O Virtue I repent | D |
| Now to repel Temptation I am steel'd | D |
| To follow thee I'm resolutely bent | D |
