Sonnet, Written On My Birth Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABABABCDCDDD

Again has Time his annual circle runA
And April ushers in my natal dayB
Since first my infant eyes beheld the sunA
How many a year has swiftly roll'd awayB
Full half my thread of life the Fates have spunA
What various colours does the web displayB
Some dark some brighter ere the work be doneA
The sadder hues will overshade the gayB
Yet not to Melancholy will I yieldC
Against Despondency and DiscontentD
Still Fortitude and Hope shall keep the fieldC
Swerving from thee O Virtue I repentD
Now to repel Temptation I am steel'dD
To follow thee I'm resolutely bentD
