On Seeing Mademoiselle *** Dance At The Opera In Paris Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHBH IJBJ JJBJ JKLK JJBJ JMGM

What fine aerial ShapeA
In orient colours dightB
Springs from the world unknownC
Upon my wondering sightB
-
Loosely through various spaceD
The lovely Figure flowsE
And leaves the sleeping airF
Unconscious as it goesE
-
Hark a spontaneous strainG
Its fairy gait attendsH
In concord every soundB
With every movement blendsH
-
Lo now the passive FormI
Moves as the music leadsJ
Each motion from each noteB
Harmoniously proceedsJ
-
By the same sense methinksJ
At once I hear and seeJ
And ears and eyes and mindB
Are all one harmonyJ
-
Along my shivering nervesJ
The mingled raptures thrillK
And strangely take my soulL
And rule it as they willK
-
True to the magic forceJ
That shifts a thousand waysJ
An echo and a shadeB
It answers and obeysJ
-
But ah the charm expiresJ
Did Fancy thus deceiveM
She smiles and fondly vainG
Would have me so believeM
