Lines On Shakspeare Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDEFGHIJKLMLL NONLCCLPLQLJRSTIL

Supposed To Be Written Near His TombA
-
Behold this marble tablet bears inscribedB
The name of ShakspeareC
What a glorious themeD
For never ending praise His drama's pageE
Like a clear mirror to our wondering viewF
Displays the living image of the worldG
And all the different characters of menH
Still in the varying scenes or sad or gayI
We take a part we weep we laugh we feelJ
All the strong sympathies of real lifeK
To him alone of mortals Fancy lentL
Her magic wand potent to conjure upM
Ideal Forms distinctly character'dL
Exciting fear or wonder or delightL
-
The works of Shakspeare are they not a faneN
Majestic as the canopy of heavenO
Embracing all created things a faneN
His superhuman genius has upraisedL
To Nature consecrate The Goddess thereC
For ever dwells and from her sanctuaryC
By Shakspeare's voice her poet and high priestL
Reveals her awful mysteries to manP
And with her power divine rules every heartL
At Shakspeare's name then bow down all ye sonsQ
Of learning and of art ye men endow'dL
With talent taste ye nobler few who feelJ
The genuine glow of genius bow down allR
In admiration with deep feeling ownS
Your littleness your insignificanceT
And with one general voice due homage payI
To Nature's Poet Fancy's best loved ChildL
