Epitaph Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDA

Mortal whoe'er thou art that passest byA
Stop and behold this stone with heedful eyeA
Here lies a Youth whom Death's resistless powerB
In health's full vigour at the festal hourB
All unprepared alas to meet his doomC
Snatch'd suddenly to an untimely tombC
-
Mortal take heed in awful silence thinkD
Thou stand'st upon Eternity's dread brinkD
O listen to Religion's warning cryA
'Man know thy nature and prepare to die '-
