Song Of The Zeppelin Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEDA AFAFGHIHA AJFJAAAAA K

I cleave the air through the murky nightA
High o'er the forests and sleeping townsB
Below me drifts the shimmering lightA
A glorious fresco on vale and downsB
My sea hath no billows nor rocky shoresC
And only the winds disturb my soulD
I care not for those who slumber in deathE
For my bomb is bloody and death my goalD
And all for the VaterlandA
-
Where the currents cross and the cruisers speedA
I sail towards the North in a piteous skyF
I hear the night wind's surging noteA
As it mingles its requiem with the widow's cryF
Above me there streams a light from heavenG
But I bow my head and veil my eyesH
As I plough the fields with my fateful keelI
And sow the highways with tears and sighsH
And all for the VaterlandA
-
And hate is the banner I unfurl so wideA
That its blood dripp'd folds may catch the breezeJ
That e'en from the balcony of heaven on highF
May be seen this banner on all the seasJ
No triumph of arms is my flight by nightA
It is only a part of a murderous raidA
Dropping a bomb on an innocent childA
Or a crowing babe in its cradle laidA
And all for the VaterlandA
-
