Adieu farewell earth's blissA
This world uncertain isB
Fond are life's lustful joysC
Death proves them all but toysC
None from his darts can flyD
I am sick I must dieD
Lord have mercy on usE
-
Rich men trust not in wealthF
Gold cannot buy you healthF
Physic himself must fadeG
All things to end are madeG
The plague full swift goes byD
I am sick I must dieD
Lord have mercy on usE
-
Beauty is but a flowerH
Which wrinkles will devourH
Brightness falls from the airI
Queens have died young and fairI
Dust hath clos'd Helen's eyeD
I am sick I must dieD
Lord have mercy on usE
-
Strength stoops unto the graveJ
Worms feed on Hector braveJ
Swords may not fight with fateK
Earth still holds ope her gateK
Come come the bells do cryD
I am sick I must dieD
Lord have mercy on usE
-
Wit with his wantonnessE
Tasteth death's bitternessE
Hell's executionerH
Hath no ears for to hearL
What vain art can replyD
I am sick I must dieD
Lord have mercy on usE
-
Haste therefore each degreeM
To welcome destinyM
Heaven is our heritageN
Earth but a player's stageO
Mount we unto the skyD
I am sick I must dieD
Lord have mercy on usE
