The Meeting Of The Waters.[1] Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFG HHII

There is not in the wide world a valley so sweetA
As that vale in whose bosom the bright waters meetA
Oh the last rays of feeling and life must departB
Ere the bloom of that valley shall fade from my heartB
-
Yet it was not that nature had shed o'er the sceneC
Her purest of crystal and brightest of greenC
'Twas not her soft magic of streamlet or hillD
Oh no it was something more exquisite stillD
-
'Twas that friends the beloved of my bosom were nearE
Who made every dear scene of enchantment more dearE
And who felt how the best charms of nature improveF
When we see them reflected from looks that we loveG
-
Sweet vale of Avoca how calm could I restH
In thy bosom of shade with the friends I love bestH
Where the storms that we feel in this cold world should ceaseI
And our hearts like thy waters be mingled in peaceI
