The East Indian Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH EIEIGJGJ

Come May with all thy flowersA
Thy sweetly scented thornB
Thy cooling evening showersA
The fragrant breath at mornB
When May flies haunt the willowC
When May buds tempt the beeD
Then o'er the shining billowC
My love will come to meD
-
From Eastern Isles she's wingingE
Thro' watery wilds her wayF
And on her cheek is bringingE
The bright sun's orient rayF
Oh come and court her hitherG
Ye breezes mild and warmH
One winter's gale would witherG
So soft so pure a formH
-
The fields where she was strayingE
Are blest with endless lightI
With zephyrs always playingE
Thro' gardens always brightI
Then now sweet May be sweeterG
Than e'er thou'st been beforeJ
Let sighs from roses meet herG
When she comes near our shoreJ
