My Birth-day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CCDEDEFGHGIJIJKLKLMN MNOHOFPPQJQJRARA

My birth day what a different soundA
That word had in my youthful earsB
And how each time the day comes roundA
Less and less white its mark appearsB
-
When first our scanty years are toldC
It seems like pastime to grow oldC
And as Youth counts the shining linksD
That Time around him binds so fastE
Pleased with the task he little thinksD
How hard that chain will press at lastE
Vain was the man and false as vainF
Who said were he ordained to runG
His long career of life againH
He would do all that he had doneG
Ah 'tis not thus the voice that dwellsI
In sober birth days speaks to meJ
Far otherwise of time it tellsI
Lavished unwisely carelesslyJ
Of counsel mockt of talents madeK
Haply for high and pure designsL
But oft like Israel's incense laidK
Upon unholy earthly shrinesL
Of nursing many a wrong desireM
Of wandering after Love too farN
And taking every meteor fireM
That crost my pathway for his starN
All this it tells and could I traceO
The imperfect picture o'er againH
With power to add retouch effaceO
The lights and shades the joy and painF
How little of the past would stayP
How quickly all should melt awayP
All but that Freedom of the MindQ
Which hath been more than wealth to meJ
Those friendships in my boyhood twinedQ
And kept till now unchanginglyJ
And that dear home that saving arkR
Where Love's true light at last I've foundA
Cheering within when all grows darkR
And comfortless and stormy roundA
