Like Morning, When Her Early Breeze. (air. Beethoven.) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CDEE FCGG HHII

Like morning when her early breezeA
Breaks up the surface of the seasA
That in those furrows dark with nightB
Her hand may sow the seeds of lightB
-
Thy Grace can send its breathings o'erC
The Spirit dark and lost beforeD
And freshening all its depths prepareE
For Truth divine to enter thereE
-
Till David touched his sacred lyreF
In silence lay the unbreathing wireC
But when he swept its chords alongG
Even Angels stooped to hear that songG
-
So sleeps the soul till Thou oh LORDH
Shalt deign to touch its lifeless chordH
Till waked by Thee its breath shall riseI
In music worthy of the skiesI
