Awake arise thy light is comeA
The nations that before outshone theeB
Now at thy feet lie dark and dumbA
The glory of the Lord is on theeB
-
Arise the Gentiles to thy rayC
From every nook of earth shall clusterD
And kings and princes haste to payC
Their homage to thy rising lustreD
-
Lift up thine eyes around and seeB
O'er foreign fields o'er farthest watersE
Thy exiled sons return to theeB
To thee return thy home sick daughtersE
-
And camels rich from Midians' tentsF
Shall lay their treasures down before theeB
And Saba bring her gold and scentsF
To fill thy air and sparkle o'er theeB
-
See who are these that like a cloudG
Are gathering from all earth's dominionsF
Like doves long absent when allowedG
Homeward to shoot their trembling pinionsF
-
Surely the isles shall wait for meB
The ships of Tarshish round will hoverD
To bring thy sons across the seaB
And waft their gold and silver overD
-
And Lebanon thy pomp shall graceF
The fir the pine the palm victoriousF
Shall beautify our Holy PlaceF
And make the ground I tread on gloriousF
-
No more shall dischord haunt thy waysF
Nor ruin waste thy cheerless nationH
But thou shalt call thy portal PraiseF
And thou shalt name thy walls SalvationH
-
The sun no more shall make thee brightI
Nor moon shall lend her lustre to theeB
But God Himself shall be thy LightI
And flash eternal glory thro' theeB
-
Thy sun shall never more go downJ
A ray from heaven itself descendedK
Shall light thy everlasting crownJ
Thy days of mourning all are endedK
-
My own elect and righteous LandL
The Branch for ever green and vernalM
Which I have planted with this handL
Live thou shalt in Life EternalM
