Anacreontic. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFG HCHC IJIJ KLML NONO PQPQ RJRJ

She never looked so kind beforeA
Yet why the wanton's smile recallB
I've seen this witchery o'er and o'erC
'Tis hollow vain and heartless allB
-
Thus I said and sighing drainedD
The cup which she so late had tastedE
Upon whose rim still fresh remainedD
The breath so oft in falsehood wastedE
-
I took the harp and would have sungF
As if 'twere not of her I sangG
But still the notes on Lamia hungF
On whom but Lamia could they hangG
-
Those eyes of hers that floating shineH
Like diamonds in some eastern riverC
That kiss for which if worlds were mineH
A world for every kiss I'd give herC
-
That frame so delicate yet warmedI
With flushes of love's genial hueJ
A mould transparent as if formedI
To let the spirit's light shine throughJ
-
Of these I sung and notes and wordsK
Were sweet as if the very airL
From Lamia's lip hung o'er the chordsM
And Lamia's voice still warbled thereL
-
But when alas I turned the themeN
And when of vows and oaths I spokeO
Of truth and hope's seducing dreamN
The chord beneath my finger brokeO
-
False harp false woman such oh suchP
Are lutes too frail and hearts too willingQ
Any hand whate'er its touchP
Can set their chords or pulses thrillingQ
-
And when that thrill is most awakeR
And when you think Heaven's joys await youJ
The nymph will change the chord will breakR
Oh Love oh Music how I hate youJ
