Rich & Poor; Or Saint & Sinner Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBA CCDDC CEFFE EGHHG IJKKJ LJDDJ

The poor man's sins are glaringA
In the face of ghostly warningA
He is caught in the factB
Of an overt actB
Buying greens on a Sunday morningA
-
The rich man's sins are hiddenC
In the pomp of wealth and stationC
And escape the sightD
Of the children of lightD
Who are wise in their generationC
-
The rich man has a kitchenC
And cooks to dress his dinnerE
The poor who would roastF
To the baker's must postF
And thus becomes a sinnerE
-
The rich man has a cellarE
And a ready butler by himG
The poor man must steerH
For his pint of beerH
Where the saint can't choose but to spy himG
-
The rich man's painted windowsI
Hide the concerts of the qualityJ
The poor can but shareK
A crack'd fiddle in the airK
Which offends all sound moralityJ
-
The rich man is invisibleL
In the crowd of his gay societyJ
But the poor man's delightD
Is a sore in the sightD
And a stench in the nose of pietyJ
