Like to the clear in highest sphereA
Where all imperial glory shinesB
Of selfsame colour is her hairC
Whether unfolded or in twinesB
Heigh ho fair RosalindD
Her eyes are sapphires set in snowE
Refining heaven by every winkF
The gods do fear whenas they glowE
And I do tremble when I thinkF
Heigh ho would she were mineG
-
Her cheeks are like the blushing cloudH
That beautifies Aurora's faceB
Or like the silver crimson shroudH
That Ph oe bus' smiling looks doth graceB
Heigh ho fair RosalindD
Her lips are like two budded rosesB
Whom ranks of lilies neighbour nighI
Within which bounds she balm enclosesB
Apt to entice a deityJ
Heigh ho would she were mineG
-
Her neck like to a stately towerK
Where Love himself imprison'd liesB
To watch for glances every hourK
From her divine and sacred eyesB
Heigh ho fair RosalindD
Her paps are centres of delightL
Her paps are orbs of heavenly frameM
Where Nature moulds the dew of lightL
To feed perfection with the sameM
Heigh ho would she were mineG
-
With orient pearl with ruby redN
With marble white with sapphire blueO
Her body every way is fedN
Yet soft in touch and sweet in viewO
Heigh ho fair RosalindD
Nature herself her shape admiresB
The gods are wounded in her sightL
And Love forsakes his heavenly firesB
And at her eyes his brand doth lightL
Heigh ho would she were mineG
-
Then muse not Nymphs though I bemoanP
The absence of fair RosalindD
Since for her fair there is fairer noneQ
Nor for her virtues so divineG
Heigh ho fair RosalindD
Heigh ho my heart would God that she were mineG
