For love the rose for faith the lily speaks | C |
It withers in false hands but here 'tis bright | D |
Dost love sweet Hyacinth Its scented leaf | E |
Curls manifold all love's delights blow double | F |
'Tis said this flow'ret is inscribed with grief | E |
But let that hint of a forgotten trouble | F |
I pluck'd the Primrose at night's dewy noon | G |
Like Hope it show'd its blossoms in the night | D |
'Twas like Endymion watching for the Moon | G |
And here are Sun flowers amorous of light | D |
These golden Buttercups are April's seal | H |
The Daisy stars her constellations be | I |
These grew so lowly I was forced to kneel | H |
Therefore I pluck no Daisies but for thee | I |
Here's Daisies for the morn Primrose for gloom | J |
Pansies and Roses for the noontide hours | K |
A wight once made a dial of their bloom | J |
So may thy life be measured out by flowers | K |
