Rhyme Scheme: ABABBBBBBCBCBC| I had a gig horse and I called him Pleasure | A |
| Because on Sundays for a little jaunt | B |
| He was so fast and showy quite a treasure | A |
| Although he sometimes kicked and shied aslant | B |
| I had a chaise and christened it Enjoyment | B |
| With yellow body and the wheels of red | B |
| Because it was only used for one employment | B |
| Namely to go wherever Pleasure led | B |
| I had a wife her nickname was Delight | B |
| A son called Frolic who was never still | C |
| Alas how often dark succeeds to bright | B |
| Delight was thrown and Frolic had a spill | C |
| Enjoyment was upset and shattered quite | B |
| And Pleasure fell a splitter on Paine's Hill | C |
