The Message Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDDEF GHIJKKEF LDMDNNEF ODPDQQRO

Ye little birds that sit and singA
Amidst the shady valleysB
And see how Phillis sweetly walksC
Within her garden alleysB
Go pretty birds about her bowerD
Sing pretty birds she may not lowerD
Ah me methinks I see her frownE
Ye pretty wantons warbleF
-
Go tell her through your chirping billsG
As you by me are biddenH
To her is only known my loveI
Which from the world is hiddenJ
Go pretty birds and tell her soK
See that your notes strain not too lowK
For still methinks I see her frownE
Ye pretty wantons warbleF
-
Go tune your voices' harmonyL
And sing I am her loverD
Strain loud and sweet that every noteM
With sweet content may move herD
And she that hath the sweetest voiceN
Tell her I will not change my choiceN
Yet still methinks I see her frownE
Ye pretty wantons warbleF
-
O fly make haste see see she fallsO
Into a pretty slumberD
Sing round about her rosy bedP
That waking she may wonderD
Say to her 'tis her lover trueQ
That sendeth love to you to youQ
And when you hear her kind replyR
Return with pleasant warblingsO
