Regret not meA
Beneath the sunny treeA
I lie uncaring slumbering peacefullyA
-
Swift as the lightB
I flew my faery flightB
Ecstatically I moved and feared no nightB
-
I did not knowC
That heydays fade and goC
But deemed that what was would be always soC
-
I skipped at mornD
Between the yellowing cornD
Thinking it good and glorious to be bornD
-
I ran at evesE
Among the piled up sheavesE
Dreaming I grieve not therefore nothing grievesE
-
Now soon will comeF
The apple pear and plumF
And hinds will sing and autumn insects humF
-
Again you will fareG
To cider makings rareG
And junketings but I shall not be thereG
-
Yet gaily singH
Until the pewter ringH
Those songs we sang when we went gipsyingH
-
And lightly danceI
Some triple timed romanceI
In coupled figures and forget mischanceI
-
And mourn not meA
Beneath the yellowing treeA
For I shall mind not slumbering peacefullyA
