On The Belgian Expatriation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBB BBBB CDC CDC E

I dreamt that people from the Land of ChimesA
Arrived one autumn morning with their bellsB
To hoist them on the towers and citadelsB
Of my own country that the musical rhymesB
-
Rung by them into space at meted timesB
Amid the market's daily stir and stressB
And the night's empty star lit silentnessB
Might solace souls of this and kindred climesB
-
Then I awoke and lo before me stoodC
The visioned ones but pale and full of fearD
From Bruges they came and Antwerp and OstendC
-
No carillons in their train Foes of mad moodC
Had shattered these to shards amid the gearD
Of ravaged roof and smouldering gable endC
-
OctoberE
