To A Canary Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CBCB DEDE FGFG HIHI JKJK LMLM AJAJ

Imprison'd songster thou for meA
Hath warbl'd many a cheerful layB
Thy songs so sweetly glad and freeA
Revive my heart from day to dayB
-
The frost is keen the wind is coldC
No wild bird twitters from the sprayB
But still resounding as of oldC
Thy voice thrills forth and seems to sayB
-
Wake up O sadden'd mortal wakeD
Shake off that anxious careworn frownE
Thy hopes renew fresh courage takeD
Nor let your troubles weigh you downE
-
See I am happy all aloneF
And kept behind the prison barsG
I sing and shouldst thou ever moanF
A mortal free beneath the starsG
-
I fly around my narrow cageH
I sing the song that gladdens youI
But carking care thy thoughts engageH
While walking free 'neath heaven's blueI
-
My heart might faint my spirit dieJ
Far from my kind and from my homeK
But cheerfully I sing and flyJ
Beneath my narrow prison's domeK
-
Oh list sad mortal to my songL
And while thou hearest mark it wellM
And go thy cheerful way alongL
Nor pray to know what none can tellM
-
I'll sing my song each day for theeA
And live the moments as they flyJ
With gladden'd heart with sounding gleeA
And thou shouldst do the same as IJ
